Colònia Güell
Today we went to the Colònia Güell near Cervello, today it's a town but before it was a autosuficient colony owned by Eusebio Güell, a wealthy businessman.

The church of Colònia Güell is unfinished and the crypt is the only part built, they won't start building the rest because they are concentrating there funds at the Sagrada Familia, but the crypt itself is very beautiful with mosiacs and interesting designs like the pillars that look like trees.

Barcelona Port
Today we went to the port in Barcelona, we took a boat through the port taking photos of cruisers and of dry docks, there weren't many cruisers though, they usually come to port mainly around july and august. Then we went under a bridge called the door of Europe.

The port is planning to extend a part of the port to become one of the important commercial ports in Europe, but if it goes ahead, it will destroy most of the biodiversity surrounding the area.

The "Born" market
In Barcelona, there's a famous market in the "born" area, thats why its called the "born" market, they are currently restoring the market so that it can be used again. Also they have found arquelogical remains under and around the market and are recovering them for a museum.

The market has a rectanguar structure, with 6 hangars(2 big ones and 4 small ones), there's also a dome in the middle, the hangars are decorated on the roofs with diagonal crosses in green and orange.

What can you see at the Batlló House?
Today, for the "final school work", we have been in Barcelona, at the Eixample.
We have seen the Batlló House, and we've learned that Batlló's frontal, has a meaning, but it's confusing....
Some people say that it's related to Sant Jordi legend (the multicolored undulating roof represents the skin of the dragon, and it have a big sword nailed on the top) but some people says that it's related to the carnival (the balconys represent the masks and the roof, a funny hat).
What do you think?
